IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosita
Fontus
November 1, 1939 – January 6, 2026
On November 1, 1939, Rosita Fontus was born in the capital city of Port-au-Prince Haiti. There she spent most of her childhood and adolescence before marrying her husband Nelson and moving to the United States in 1968.
Rosita and her loving husband Nelson moved to Brooklyn, New York where they began a life not only for themselves but also their four children as well.
Known for her exquisite cooking and her passion for pleasing her family in the kitchen, Rosita's cooking skills became infamous among anyone who knew the Fontus family. She extended this passion for serving others into the field of dietary services in which she served in that department at Waterview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for nearly two decades.
Rosita also had a great taste for music which ranged from Latin Caribbean to opera and contemporary. She enjoyed road trips with her family and had a love for shopping.
Rosita and her husband both committed their lives to the Lord in 1998. She served in the choir and faithfully opened up her home for evening bible studies and was a generous hostess to any and all who had the pleasure of visiting her home. She and Nelson spent most of their latter years serving and contributing to their home church "Eglise Hatienne Bethanie De L'Alliance and making Christ the centerpiece of their lives.
Rosita is survived by her husband Nelson Fontus and four children: Margarette Lubin, Fritz Fontus, Mario Fontus and Roger Fontus (deceased); daughter-in-law: Dawn Fontus; son-in-law Francois Lubin; five grandchildren: Danielle Fontus, Steven Fontus, Franchesca Fontus, Morgan Fontus and Mario Fontus Jr.; two great-grandchildren: Julian Fontus and Christian Fontus. Rosita will deeply be missed by many. We take great solace in knowing she is resting peacefully in the arms of her Heavenly Father. Her memory will live on in the hearts and lives of all who knew and loved her.
