Obituary of Roy Stouky

Roy Jon Stouky "Jon" passed away at the age of 74 on October 2nd, 2012 at his Jensen Beach residence. Jon was born April 25th, 1938 to Roy Chester and Alma Stouky in El Cerrito, California. He recently relocated back to South Florida after living for many years in Guilford County, North Carolina.

Jon had a 51 year career in the Commercial Nuclear Power Industry. Not only was Jon a successful inventor and entrepreneur founding Mega Tech Inc. in 1988, he also authored several books and reports concerning nuclear issues. He was the first recipient of the Life Time Achievement Award from the Decommissioning Division of the American Nuclear Society. Decommissioning, maintenance, and operational aspects of nuclear power plant management were the areas of specific expertise for Jon.

Most recently, Jon was serving as Nuclear Advisor and the acting Facility Site Manager for the N.S. Savannah decommissioning project located in Baltimore, Maryland. With such dedication, Jon was responsible for a number of the memorabilia items, models, and displays that can be viewed daily by visitors throughout the Savannah. He was truly the driving force behind the project.

Jon is survived by his two sons, Joseph and Kevin, as well as Kevin's wife Keri, and their daughter Sarah, all residing in Port Saint Lucie. Jon is also survived by Joseph and Kevin's mother, Beverly Stouky of Port Saint Lucie, sister, Natalie Peters of Temecula California, and former wife, Martha Wood Stouky of Jamestown, North Carolina. He also had two new loves in his life, his newly adopted kittens, Boots and Cali, which are still in the family.

Memorial Services will take place, Friday, October 19th, 2012 from 5pm-7pm at the Forest Hills Memorial Park. 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL 34990. There will also be a grave side Memorial Service in northern California which will be Jon's final resting place. Sunday, November 18th, 2012 at 1pm at the Cromberg Cemetery located in Plumas County California.
