Obituary of Royal Bishop
Royal E. Bishop, 92, of Stuart, Florida, died April 25, 2012 at Stuart Nursing and Restorative Care Center, Stuart, Florida.
Born in Hempstead, New York, he had been a resident of the Treasure Coast for 43 years coming from Massapequa, New York.
During World War II, he served in the US Army in the Pacific Theatre and received the Bronze Star.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Palm City; the Treasure Coast DAV; the Martin Health Systems Board and was past president of the Martin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. He was Past Commander of VFW Post 2845 Uniondale, NY; was Past Master of the Raymond Zeph Lodge 1135 F&AM and Past Patron of Raymond Zeph Eastern Star Chapter 860, Hempstead, NY. He also was Past Commander of the Grumman Ex-serviceman's Club.
Prior to retiring, he was a purchasing agent for Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage, New York and Stuart for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marjorie A. Bishop of Stuart and a brother Edward Bishop of Bellport, New York. He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry Bishop and Robert Bishop and a sister Christine Whalley.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on April 30, 2012 at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City Chapel, with Pastor Thomas Hartley of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating with military honors provide by the US Army
