Obituary of Royce Neil
Royce E. Neil, 79, of Port St. Lucie, FL, died September 21, 2012 at Martin Medical Center in Stuart. He was born in Norwich, Ct and had been a resident of Port St. Lucie since 1990, having moved from Norwich. He graduated from Norwich Free Academy, and from University of New Haven with a degree in Criminal Justice. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He was a State Trooper for the State of Connecticut, in which four of those years he was resident Trooper in Ledyard, CT. He retired in 1973. He then became the Director of Security at Mitchell College in New London, CT. When he moved to Florida, he worked as a duty officer for the Fort Pierce Police Department. Royce also worked for Aycock Funeral Homes, and then Forest Hills Funeral Homes for 10 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a longtime member in the Sportsman Club of Ledyard, CT and Founder and past member of the Tuckerburg Club in Ledyard. He was also a member of the Son's of the American Revolution, the Mayflower Descendants and the Korean War Veterans Post #106 in Port St. Lucie.
He is survived by his wife, Lilliane Neil of Port St. Lucie; son, James Neil; daughters, Susan Knight, Judy Nee and Carol Lindgren; 4 granddaughters and 1 grandson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gwen McMahon.
Visitation: 4:00 - 7:00PM, Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Forest Hills Funeral Homes, Palm City, FL.
Royce will be transferred to Church & Allen Funeral Home in Norwich, CT for a visitation and a funeral service.
Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich, CT.
