Obituary of Ruth Ridgway

Ruth L. Ridgway died peacefully at home with the presence of family in Port St. Lucie, FL, on December 24th, 2013. Ruth, daughter of the late Fredrick B. Mahan and Florence O'Hara Mahan, was born in Trenton, New Jersey. She moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1957 and was a resident of Port St. Lucie for the last 24 years.

Ruth and her late husband, Earl, owned and operated E&R Fish Market in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for 24 years.

Ruth was a former volunteer for American Cancer Society helping woman with breast cancer. Ruth loved cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Ruth is survived by her loving family:

Nancy Howard (daughter) of Port St. Lucie, FL.

Nikki Higgins (granddaughter), her husband David Higgins, and their son Justin John Markwood (great grandson) of Port St. Lucie, FL.

Genevieve Hughes (granddaughter), her husband Thomas Hughes, and their daughter, Jessica Hughes (great granddaughter) of Port St. Lucie, FL.

Alaina Ridgway-Malone (granddaughter), her partner Ashley Harden, her daughter, Alyssa Ridgway (great granddaughter) and her son, Dyllon Malone (great grandson) of Stuart, FL.

Fred Mahan (Brother) of Georgia, Robert Mahan Sr. (Brother) and Lorraine Mahan (Sister-in-law) of West Virginia, Suzanne Walzcak (Sister) of New Jersey, and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth is also survived by her loving dog, Snoopy Ridgway.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Ridgway, Sr., her son Earl Ridgway, Jr., her brother Harry (Ted) Mahan, Sr., her sister Florence Mahan, and her sister Nancy Mahan.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, from 10am to 12 Noon at the Forest Hills Palm City Chapel at 2001 SW Murphy Rd., Palm City Florida 34990. A Celebration of Life Chapel Service will be held at 12 Noon at the same location. A burial service will immediately follow.
