Salome C. Baker, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Sunrise Health and Rehabilitation center, a loving and caring community in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Salome was born on May 12, 1924 to Lilian Giscombe and Uriah Baker in Saint Mary, Jamaica. She later became the mother of two boys and five girls, Clement, Grandville, Norma (Fay), Hyacinth (Cynth), Thelma (Joyce), Madgeritta (Madge) and Colester (Maria). In 1979, she moved to the United States where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Bronx, New York. She also served as a deaconess at Kelly's Temple Church of God in Christ. In 2001, shortly after her retirement, she moved to Florida to live with her youngest daughter, Maria.
Salome was loved by so many for her gentle demeanor and a unique peacefulness that exemplified her love so well. Her memory will continue to be honored by her 7 children, 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Forest Hills Palm City Chapel, 2001 SW Murphy Road in Palm City.
