Obituary for Salome T. "Boodie" Hein
Salome, "Boodie," Thoman Hein was born on June 4, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Anna Marie Ernst and Edward Louis Thoman. Boodie lived a full and exciting life that culminated on Dec 31, 2022.
Boodie attended Sophie Newcomb College but left to marry Ensign Joseph Jacques Hein Jr, USN in 1946. Her life as a Navy wife included living in Key West, Florida, Naples, Italy, Coronado, CA, Washington, DC, Charleston, SC, and Oahu, HI.
During this time, she worked as a bank teller in Hawaii and Washington, DC, received her BA in education at American University. Boodie taught at the Kingsbury Institute and for seventeen years at The Potomac School in Washington, DC where she developed a reading program. She loved playing tennis and enjoyed being a USTA judge for professional tennis tournaments in the DC area and loved tap dancing with the Fabulous Footnotes in Stuart, FL.
For the past 13 years, Boodie has resided at Sandhill Cove in Palm City, FL enjoying both the friends she made there as well as the competent staff who cared so well for her.
Boodie is survived by her son Jonathan J. Hein and his wife Patricia and daughter Linda Susan Hein, grandson, Alex Hein, and grandaughter, Kirstie Sadler. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Conor, Cara, Michael Hein and Liam and Wolfie Sadler.
This elegant and gracious lady will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
