Obituary of Shirley Griffith

Shirley was born in Westover, West Virginia, January 13, 1934 to her parents Hugo and Gertrude Shamblen. She was a coal miner's daughter. Shirley passed away peacefully February 13, 2011

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Thomas R. Griffith of Palm City, FL. Her children, Thomas H. Griffith of Boca Raton, FL; Mark P. Griffith of Fairmont, WV and Kelly Griffith Daniel of Greenwood, IN; her sister Patty Ann Popp of Stuart, FL; her brother Hugo Shamblen of Palm Harbour, FL and six grandchildren.

She is a graduate of Trap Hill High School and St. Francis School of Nursing in Charleston, WV. She worked as a RN at St. Francis Hospital until she left nursing to stay home to spend her time raising their three great children.

She was a loving and dedicated homemaker. Her hobbies included reading a good book, gardening, quilting and she supported the rescue of dogs and other animals.

She supported her husband in his career as a sales manager for a large insurance company.

They had the best of both worlds.South Florida in the winter and a log cabin in the wood and mountains of beautiful Blairsville, Georgia in the summer.

Her gentle and loving ways will always be remembered.

We want to thank Hospice of the Treasure coast for the never-ending help that was given to our family at this time of desperate need.

Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City, FL with a closed family service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart, FL and/or Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, Palm City, FL.
