Obituary of Stanley Kennedy

Stanley Robert Kennedy, 85, passed away suddenly at his home in Port St. Lucie on Monday, June 4, 2007. He is survived by his wife Florence Liz Kennedy, two loving daughters Laurie Ondris and Lynda Dawson, as well as his daughter Nancy Yates and Jerry Kennedy from his previous marriage. In addition Stan had three granddaughters, three grandsons, and one great-grandson.

Stan was born on 8-21-21 in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in LaGrange, Illinois. He went on to High School and college at ISU, where he excelled in track and field, winning many awards. He further went on to serve his country by joining the Army in the medical field in 1942 and receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. From there he went on to pursue a career in teaching; first in Illinois, and then relocating to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he continued teaching in the science field which he so loved until his retirement. After moving to Palm City Stan still pursued education, working as a substitute teacher when he was needed.

In addition, Stan was a member in good standing with the Masons, which was an important part of his life.

Capt. Stan loved the water He loved to take Nancy and Jerry skiing and diving off the coast and in the Keys whenever he could. He took Lynda out on the water as well, teaching her to water ski and fish too. Stan and Laurie shared their love for literature, always discussing this author or that book, exchanging books constantly.

Stan will be forever in our hearts and we miss him already more than mere words can say. He left us too soon and we love him so very, very much.
