Obituary of Steve Cummings

Stephen Cummings, 51, of Stuart, passed away unexpectedly at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.

He was born in Indianapolis, IN, and had been a resident of Stuart since 1981. Steve served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, and received many commendations while serving.

He became a Martin County Sheriffs Deputy in 1980, and was currently the Sergeant of the Warrants Division. He has received many awards during his career. He was also on the U.S. Marshalls Task Force, and was a member of the Police Benevolent Association.

Steve was a diehard Miami Dolphins fan.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Kathryn Cummings of Stuart; his sons, Austin Cummings of Orlando and James Gaines of Jupiter; brother, John Cummings of Stuart; sisters, Karen Cummings and Cheri Unterreiner both of Plainfield, IN; half-sister, Carrie McNamara of Stuart; step-brother, William Deiters of Springfield, IL; mother Nancy Deiters and step-father William Deiters both of Jensen Beach; father, Russell Cummings of Port St. Lucie; nephews, Connor Steinolfson of Jupiter and Joshua Trowbridge of Indianapolis; nieces, Jessica Vega of Beaufort, SC and Amanda Cummings of Stuart, and many great nieces and nephews.
