Sylvester Julian Williamson went home to be with the Lord on October 09,2022. Sylvester was born in Harlem, New York on September 3, 1924. Sylvester was the fourth of six children born to Samuel and Rose Williamson. Sylvester was married to, Gloria Dyer Williamson in 1955 and they were blessed with five children – Donna, Yvonne, Gregory (deceased), Richard and Phillip of Mount Vernon, New York. He was a devoted husband, father, and brother to his siblings. Daddy was a great provider for his family and will be truly missed.
While working several jobs and raising his family, Sylvester attended City College on New York and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. He worked at several companies including Emerson Radio, Belock Instruments Corp, Union Carbide/Dow Chemical and was an Adjunct at Manhattan Community College.
Sylvester strongly valued the importance of education. He loved to advise young people to get an education ensuring that all his children had a college education. He also valued encouraging young people to buy a house instead of renting so they can build up equity. Sylvester, was a giving person, always wanting to help others in any way he could - a friend to countless others.
After retiring he moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida. He loved gardening. God gifted him to became a Master Gardner. His garden remains blessed and fruitful with several fruit trees, tropical plants and various exotic flowers. His Garden was well known and admired by many in the area. People would come to his garden and leave with bags of vegetables and various fruits. He also had a sugar cane mill. Friends would bring their sugar cane and have fun going around with the mill to extract the juice.
Those who will cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Gloria Williamson of Port St. Lucie, sons Richard and Phillip Williamson and daughters Donna and Yvonne Williamson, cousin Murdel Wint of Mount Vernon, New York . Several nephews, nieces and friends.
You are gone from us physically, but will never be gone from our hearts.
Till we meet again, rest in peace loved one.
