Obituary of Thomas Boyd
Born March 25, 1925 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Tom went to be with the Lord on January 3rd. A resident of Stuart/Palm City since 1982, Tom moved to Florida from the USVI in 1953 where he met his future wife, Billie Gordon, marrying in 1954. He was employed by several construction management firms before starting his own business (Purification Plants Inc.) with a partner in 1968.
Tom was a founding member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Palm City and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Stuart, most recently. He served as a Medic in the Army Infantry for a year & in the Army reserves for seven years following WW 2. Tom was involved with the Elks club, Kiwanis club and Woodmen of the World. He & wife Billie served in several volunteer positions including Meals-On-Wheels, Martin Memorial Hospital & the Mission House at FUMC.
He is survived by his wife Billie of 56 years, his three children Tom Boyd (Janice) of Jacksonville, FL. Kathy England (David) of Roswell, GA and Kaye Alesevich (Nick) of Trumbull, CT and his sister Marion Gilmore of Lake Placid, FL. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jennifer Boyd; Ryan (wife Sally) and Ainsley England; Christy and Kelly Alesevich. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wed, 1/6 4-6 PM Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City and Services will be Thurs 1/7 at 11 AM at First United Methodist Church in Stuart. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Susan Komen Cancer foundation www.komen.org.
