Obituary of Thomas Falconer
Thomas F. Falconer, age 84, of Palm City, FL, died on January 3, 2008. Mr. Falconer was born on June 8, 1923 in Watertown, MA to James A. and Norma R. (Farnham) Falconer. He is a 1947 graduate of Colgate University.
His career as a sales and marketing executive with the Gulf Oil Corporation started in 1947 and he retired after more than 30 years of service. Mr. Falconer was a Master Mason since 1949 and a member of the Longmeadow Lodge in East Longmeadow, MA.
As a tail gunner in the Army Air Force in WWII from 1943 to 1945, he served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater, including the campaigns and battles in Rome-Arno, Southern France and North Apennines. He received the Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theater Campaign Ribbon, Air Medal with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters. He was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He was a lifelong Rotarian and an active member of the Stuart Sunrise Rotary Club. He traveled extensively to all 50 states mostly via RV. For many years he was Treasurer of the Rotary International RV Division. He was an avid golfer and resident of Palm City for over 20 years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Falconer in 2001.
Survivors include three daughter; Martha S. Falconer of Jacksonville, FL, Carol (Mark) Endahl of Alexandria, VA and Deborah A. Falconer of Carolina, Puerto Rico. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren...Douglas Campbell Groce, III; Tommy Falconer Groce; Marina Elizabeth Endahl; Jenna Lee Endahl; Michael Scott Garcia; and Kerry Ann Garcia. Also surviving is one sister, Barbara Lofton of McLean, VA and one brother, James A. Falconer of Dennis, MA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Palm City Presbyterian Church, 2700 Martin Downs Hwy, Palm City, FL 34990. A private inturnment will follow in the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Stuart Sunrise Rotary Charitable Foundation, 1000 Monterey Commons Blvd., Suite 101, Stuart, FL 34996.
