Thomas Richard Griffith, 80, of Palm City, FL died peacefully after a short illness on November 22, 2016 at Martin Hospital South in Stuart, Florida.

Tom was born on March 8 1936 in Charleston West Virginia. He graduated from Stonewall Jackson High school in Charleston.

His career accomplishments included serving as City Councilman in Nitro, West Virginia. He dedicated most of his working career to Nationwide Insurance as a manager in West Virginia, Indiana and Florida ultimately retiring from Nationwide in 1992 after developing an agency operation that continues today.

After retirement He and Shirley split their time between their winter home in South Florida and their beloved summer home in the North Georgia Mountains in Blairsville.

Tom is survived by his sons, Thomas H Griffith: Boca Raton, Florida, Mark P Griffith: Fairmont West Virginia and his daughter, Kelly Griffith-Daniel of Greenwood, Indiana. He was blessed with six grandchildren, as well as four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Shirley Shamblen Griffith.
A private family memorial is planned at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City Florida.
