"I love you. You're beautiful" is how Thomas (Tom) Hughes often greeted his family. That love was reciprocated by his family.  He died peacefully in his home on September 11, 2019 in Palm City, Florida at the age of 90. May God welcome Tom into Heaven as Tom and Joan welcomed all into their home, with love and open arms.

Tom was born on August 10, 1929 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Ethel Holly Green and Thomas Arnold Hughes.  He married Joan Kuker, his high school sweetheart, on September 27, 1947. They raised their family in New City, NY. Tom worked for the International Union of Operating Engineers for 32 years. Tom and Joan retired to Palm City, Fl in 1993 and were married for almost 72 years.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Joan Hughes, his brother George Arthur Hughes (spouse Linda) of Lumberton, NC, his children; Carol Ann (Hughes) Rupeka (spouse Michael) of Knoxville, TN, Anne Marie (Hughes) Stewart (spouse Giles) of Houston, TX, Joseph Hughes (spouse Allison) of Boca Raton, FL, Patrick Hughes (spouse Kelly) of Highland Mills, NY, and their families.

He will be missed by his four children, their spouses, thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

The visitation will be September 16, 2019 between 4-6pm with a vigil service at 6pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on September 17, 2019 at 10am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church Palm City.  Committal services will be immediately held following mass at Forest Hills Memorial Park Palm City.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom's life.  In lieu of flowers the family has request donations in loving memory of Tom be made to:
