Thomas Francis O’Shea Jr. (Tom), age 86, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, after a long illness. He was born July 17, 1939, in Lackawanna, New York, (near Buffalo, New York) to the late Thomas Francis O’Shea and the late Verda May Woodford O’Shea.
After graduating from high school, Tom joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1957 to 1959 aboard the USS Albermarle; he also served in the Naval Reserves until 1962. He moved to Lake Worth, Florida, where he worked various jobs before beginning work as a butcher at Winn Dixie. He married Ruth Ann Bolesta on June 17, 1961. He worked as a Meat Market Manager for Winn Dixie in Palm Beach County for over 20 years, moving his family (wife and 5 children) from Lake Worth to Indiantown, Florida, during this time. He then worked as the Meat Market Manager for Rines Market in Indiantown for over 20 years before retiring in 2004. During his years of work, Tom was very proud of all the people he was able to train and mentor. After retiring, he and Ruth moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Tom was a man known for an incredible work ethic and for his devotion to his family. He lived out his commitment to care for and love his wife and children every day of his life. He was also a man who showed kindness and care to others. He loved to laugh and tease. He was very proud to be Irish and one of his fondest memories was visiting Ireland with his wife Ruth. One could almost believe at times that there was a bit of a leprechaun in him based on the twinkle in his eye. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and travel, and taught himself furniture upholstery.
He was a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Indiantown and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Tom is survived by his wife of 64 years Ruth O’Shea; children Kathy Rowland (Robert Rowland), Danny O’Shea (Pam O’Shea), Aaron O’Shea (Shari O’Shea), Tim O’Shea (Lainee Kitterman) and Patrick O’Shea (Nita O’Shea); grandchildren Emily Rowland, Eric Rowland, Sarah Rowland, Danny O’Shea Jr. (Shannon O’Shea), Tommy O’Shea (Jessica O’Shea), Mark O’Shea (Karla O’Shea) , Kevin O’Shea (Carina Morales), and Sean O’Shea; sisters Betty O’Shea, Margaret Dreher and Karen Young; sister-in-law Kathy O’Shea; as well as great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his parents and brother Kevin O’Shea.
Tom will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 5-7 pm at Forest Hills Memorial Park & Palm City Chapel, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, Florida. The funeral service will take place on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 10 am with interment following afterward at 11 am.
The family expresses special gratitude to Treasure Coast Hospice for giving Tom extra pain-free time to enjoy life and to visit with family and friends before his passing.
