In Loving Memory of Tom Ward Brown July 7, 1934 – December 26, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tom Ward Brown (affectionately known as Poppy Tom), who peacefully departed this life on December 26, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, decorated pilot, proud veteran, and an irreplaceable mentor to many.
Tom embraced a life full of adventure, love, and laughter. He relished speedboats, building hot rods, dominating younger generations in volleyball, and always had a penchant for sharing a good joke.
Born on July 7, 1934, in Los Angeles, CA, Tom grew up with a love for anything with an engine. While initially aspiring to become an aircraft mechanic, his potential and determination led him down the path of aviation. After his acceptance into the esteemed Aviation Cadet program, he rose to the challenge and trained to become a fighter pilot.
After serving his country in the military, Tom transitioned to a distinguished career with American Airlines, where he served for 35 years before retiring.
At the heart of his life was his family. A devoted husband to Sandra for 41 years, their partnership was a true testament to enduring love and shared adventure. As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Tom's wisdom, humor, and boundless support created a legacy of love. His captivating stories, hearty laughter, and the sparkle in his eyes during cherished family moments will forever remain in our hearts.
Tom was a self-proclaimed connoisseur of margaritas, and an avid fan of Mexican cuisine, Taco Bell ranking high on the list.
Tom's legacy of love, service, and unforgettable memories lives on through his loving wife, Sandra; his seven children, Shannon Hutchings (Michael), Scott Brown, Michele Brown, Rod Brown, Rick Wilson (Elizabeth), DeeAnn D'Agostino (Vincent), and Thea Ferrie (Steven); his nine grandchildren, Taylor (Taylor), Chris, Garrett (Marianne), Cole, Lauren, Jack, MiKyla, Johnathan, and Rowan; and two great-grandchildren, Maebelle and Tex.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held on January 3, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 2001 SW Murphy Road Palm City, FL 34990.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Vitas Hospice Care or Tunnels to Towers .
Rest easy, Captain Brown. You have reached your final destination, and the skies are forever yours.
