Vincent M. Cooney 94, of Stuart, FL passed away peacefully on Saturday October 27th, 2018.

Vincent was born in New York City on March 11, 1924 to Michael and Anna Cooney. He was a proud veteran of the Army where he served as a sergeant during WWII. He was a decorated officer of the NYPD precinct 1013 for over 23 years where he also served as past president and later served as a commanding officer of the New York Yankee stadium police detail. He was an ordained Eucharistic Minister and a long standing member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stuart, FL.

Vincent loved dancing, music and traveling and delighted in meeting new people and recounting old stories. He will be warmly remembered by all who knew him for the twinkle in his bright blue eyes, his easy charm as a storyteller (with the rich traces of New York that never quite left his voice,) and his unwavering faith.

In death, he rejoins his loving wife of 63 years, Catherine"Kay"Cooney as well as his son Michael Cooney. He is also predeceased by a sister and three brothers. He is survived by 2 grandsons: James Cooney and his wife Julie of Milwaukee,WI; Peter Cooney, and  his wife Yeng of Milwaukee, WI; a granddaughter, Mary Catherine Stern and her husband Nathaniel of Milwaukee, WI; and three great-grandchildren: Jack Cooney, Hazel Cooney and Julian Stern. He will also be fondly remembered by surviving nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 4-6PM at Forest Hills Funeral Home 2001 SW Murphy Road Palm City, FL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stuart FL, with interment to immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City with Military Honors at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, Vincent and the family have requested donations be forwarded to St. Joseph's Carpenter Kitchen 1200 E. 10 ^th Street Stuart FL.
