Obituary of Virginia Simonsen Brandenburg, RN
Virginia, 91, died at her daughter's home in Rocky Point, Stuart. She was surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice whom we would like to thank.
Her parents were Danish. She was born in Everett, Massachusetts. She had one brother, Walter and nieces, Paula Glover and Andra Carleton.
She eloped in 1945 from West Palm Beach to Stuart and married Fred, a Florida native, who died in 1994. They lived on Elizabeth Street, West Palm Beach, where the neighbors were like family, until 1986 when they moved to Palm City. They lived on the family's 5 acres. She lived the past 14 years with her family and wanted to thank her son-in-law Raymond Tingler for being so good to her!
Virginia had sons Eric Brandenburg (Dorothea), Tommy Bischoff (Ingrid) and daughter Sharyn Tingler (Raymond), grandchildren Paul and Mike Bischoff, Kristy Loewe and Noami Faught. great grandchildren Jeremy, Jessica and Jennifer Faught.
She was a member of the Outboard Club of Palm Beach. Dad built their first boat with Mel Spencer in 1956. They went to the Keys, Marathon, every year to dive for lobster and fish. She spent this past August and September there at Coconut Cay. She raced in the Gold Coast Marathon. She was a member of the Lutheran Church, VFW, and Environmental Studies Center and past PTA President and Girl Scout Leader. She loved to dance and have fun, enjoyed Crown Royal and closed Pirate's Cove many times!
She was young at heart even at 91! Everyone who met her enjoyed her loving, caring, fun ways. We were all blessed to have her in our lives for so many years!
Services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City 34990; Visitation from 11:00am to 1:00pm with funeral service at 1:00pm followed with a big party at her daughter's afterward, per her request! She always said "Don't forget to laugh!"
