Obituary of Walter Burkart
Walter Mark Burkart, of Palm City, a retired manufacturing company executive, passed away March 1, 2008 in Stuart. Walter was born September 29, 1921 in Ferndale, MI. He married Mary Jane Hilts on April 22, 1943. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1943 1946. He attended Lawrence Institute of Technology, MI, 1940 1943 and 1946 1947.
He was an avid fly fisherman and a great outdoorsman.
Walter was a Chief Engineer and Works Manager of automation and measurement division of Bendix Corp. in Dayton, Ohio, Vice-President if Ex-Cell-O Corp. in Detroit, MI; President and chairman of Kingsbury Machine Tool Corp. in Keene, NH; Consulting President American Machine Tool Consortium in Tehran, Iran; Engineering Security Officer for the Manufacture of Nuclear Weapon Machinery at Bendix & Ex-Cell-O; Advisor on capital goods for USA trade policy matters; active B.S.A. ; Member of NH Governors management review board; Director of Keene, NH Chamber of Commerce; Director of NH Business & Industry Association; member of Society of Manufacturing , Engineers & Machine Tool Builders Association; member of Orchard Lake CC, in MI; Keene CC & Bretwood CC both in Keene, NH; and also a member of Pipers Landing CC in Palm City.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele Sue Bragg of Palm City.
He was preceded in death by his son Michael Robert Burkart, and his wife, Mary Jane Burkart in 2007.
Walter was a devoted husband of 64 years, and a loving father and grandfather. He was a giving mentor to all who crossed his path.
He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held 1:00PM, Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City.
