On June 27, 2021, Walter L Bush passed away surrounded by his family. He was 82.
Walter was born on August 1, 1938, in Antlers , Oklahoma to Eleanor and Leon Bush. He was the youngest of four children. He left high school to enlist in the U.S. military. Walter spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy serving honorably in many duty stations. He spent an additional nine years in the reserve. After leaving active duty, the family moved to New Hampshire and then eventually to Florida.
After a brief time with Florida Steel, Walter transitioned to FPL and found success in building the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant and later teaching for FPL. After leaving FPL, Walter worked for Perry Tri-Tech and later returned to FPL as a consultant on wind farms and turbines. Walter was an exceptional leader, known for his unyielding integrity, his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Walter attended Chapman College, UNH and Barry University.
Walter loved his family and to travel. Walter married his wife Mary in 1967 and they had three children. Walter and Mary had many adventures traveling the United States and abroad. Walter always put his family first and was a solid presence in the family. He instilled strong values and ethics in his children. He was a founding member of Holy Redeemer Church.
Walter was pre-deceased by his parents and his three sisters, Dorothy, Jane and Faye. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary and their children, Kelly and her husband Rick, Patrick and his wife Margaret , Laura and his much-loved grandchildren Hazel, Mattie and Eleanor. He had a very special relationship with Mary's family who loved him dearly.
