Walter "Pudge" Podbielski, age 89, of Stuart Florida passed away at home on July 12, 2022. Mr. Podbielski was born in Cliffside Park, New Jersey on May 1, 1933. Mr. Podbielski went to Sacred Heart School in Hudson Heights New Jersey. Then attended Cliffside Park high and graduated in 1951. He attended Seton Hall University in New Jersey and Kansas State University in Kansas. He then attended Manhattan School for Printing in New York, New York. He served in the USA army from 1953 to 1955 and obtained the rank of Corporal.
He was a self-employed as a general contractor, and owned Custom Fence, Inc. in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. He then worked for Continental Water Conditioning Corporation in El Paso, Texas as a Director of Field Operations. He was then employed by Millpore Corporation in Bedford, Massachusetts as a Director of Operations.
Mr. Podbielski retired in Stuart Florida in 1996. He played softball, and was on the Saint Lucie Senior Softball team until 87 years old. He also played softball in Morris County, New Jersey. He was a member of Saint Andrew Catholic Church on Cove Road in Stuart, Florida.
Mr. Podbielski was a kind and dependable father and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to the whole heartedly loving his family.
Mr. Podbielski enjoyed all sports softball, basketball and football. He was an avid fisherman, and he enjoyed boating in Long Beach Island New Jersey in Stuart Florida.
Mr. Podbielski was survived by his loving wife Joan (Merlino) Podbielski over 69 years of marriage. They met in high school, and fell in love and married in 1953, in New Jersey. Within 69 years, they started a family. They had three children, Karen Podbielski Caronello (deceased) of Stuart Florida, husband Wendell Sanders of Stuart Florida, Lisa Podbielski Cummings of Stuart, Florida, and Gary Podbielski of Sparta New Jersey. They have two grandchildren Julian Podbielski and Lena Podbielski of Sparta, New Jersey.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28th at Forest Hills Palm City Chapel. A Funeral Prayer Service will take place on Friday, July 29th at 11:00 am followed by Entombment at Forest Hills Memorial Park; the address is 2001 SW Murphy Rd. Palm City, FL 34990. A reception will take place immediately following the entombment at the Monarch Country Club (1801 SW Monarch Club Drive, Palm City, FL 34990).
