Obituary of William Beard

William Lee Beard, Sr., 86, of Naples, FL, died May 9, 2014 at St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie, FL. Born in Columbia, SC, he had been in Port St. Lucie a short time coming from Naples where he lived since 1987. He relocated to Florida from North Carolina.

He had attended North Carolina State University.

Before retiring he was a marketing salesman for Johnson & Johnson and also had been a senior account executive with ADVO, where he was a member of the "President's Club".

Survivors include his son William Lee Beard, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; his former wife, Marie Beard Willis of Raleigh, NC; four nieces; two nephews; three great nieces and three great-great nieces. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Douglass Beard, Jr., John Thomas Beard and Lewis Calvin Beard; his sister Mary Wright Rhudy and his long-time friend and companion, Laura Ennis.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 pm on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Port St. Lucie for friends and family to gather to celebrate his life.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City, Florida.
