Obituary

William (Bill) Henderson 88, of Palm City passed away on February 25, 2018 at his home.

He was born on January 31, 1930 in NYC to William Austin Henderson and Catherine Moriarty Henderson.  He grew up in NYC and graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and St Michael's College, University of Toronto.  Upon graduation he entered the service during the Korean conflict.  After attending Officers Candidate School he became a 2nd Lt. and served stateside.  Upon his return he was employed by IBM in NYC.  He eventually went on to become National Sales Manager to the banking industry on Wall St.  While at IBM he met his future wife, Terry, and married in 1956.   In 1960 they moved to Hillsdale, NJ and raised their six children.  In 1968 he was elected a councilman and served 4 years.  While on the council he was both Fire Commissioner and Police Commissioner and served on many boards.  He also coached basketball and was a baseball manager as their family grew.  The family was also active at St John the Baptist RC School and church.  He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Palm City.

Bill retired in 1986 and in 1992 moved to Palm City, FL with his wife Terry.  He enjoyed playing golf and always had a good time, even when his score wasn't great.

Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years Terry, his children Nancy, Bill (Madeline), Richard (Maureen), Stephen (Mary), Colleen (Joe), his brother Ray and sister-in-law Carmen and a niece, Annemarie and nephew, Raymond. He also is survived by 12 grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Christine.

A particular thank you to his caregivers Corliss Phillips, Marie Chassagne and Courtney Johnson, who took such wonderful care of him.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City, FL.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Military honors provided by the U.S. Army.

Bill was a wonderful, humorous man who was loved by all who knew him and still counted childhood friends in his circle.  He will be sorely missed.
