Obituary of William Connaughton
William F. Connaughton passed away on October 3, 2013 at his home at Emeritus Assisted Living in Jensen Beach, Florida. He was born on April 8, 1929 in Winthrop, MA to William F. Connaughton, Sr. and Anna Marie (Allen) Connaughton-Robichaud. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Claire LaPerle of Ware and Gilbertville, MA. He leaves behind his wife, Sally Duncan, his children Leslie (Don) Schreiber, Randall Connaughton, Janet (David) Roy, and Cynthia (Mario) Garcia. Beloved grandfather to Christian and Brian Schreiber, Andrew and Katherine Humphreys, and Amber Garcia. He was blessed to be loved by so many including his good friend and caretaker Donna Bostwick. Bill was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in both the Army and Air Force. He began his aviation career at TWA as a flight dispatcher. He continued his career at Pan Am later becoming manager of Airport Operations Flight Support for their worldwide system. In 1987, after 30 years of service with Pan Am he retired. He formed his own company Conn Aviation, and as president, he acted as an international airline consultant, providing flight support and operations control training to 40 international airlines for the Pan Am Flight Academy. He later provided dispatcher training as a manager for SimuFlite. He finished his airline career as president of his company, Airline Dispatch Associates, and provided dispatcher training to many international students. His love of aviation followed him throughout his career at Pan Am, his travels around the globe, and service with the Civil Air Patrol. He will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery alongside his first wife Claire.
