Obituary of William Darby

WILLIAM J. DARBY, age 77, a longtime resident of Palm City, FL died on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Darby was born on October 8, 1930 in Long Branch, New Jersey to Andrew J. and Emily Irene (Williams) Darby. He came to Palm City in 1967 from New Jersey and was an area carpenter for many years. Mr. Darby was an avid boat racer and craftsman all of his life and operated the Boat Farm in Palm City for many years where he hand crafted boats professionally. He also was a proud US Navy Veteran, stationed in Korea on the USS Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier during the Korean Conflict and also served in the European Theater.

Survivors include his two daughters; Diane Lynn Darby and Joanne Tolisano (John) of Palm City, one son William J. Jr. (Renee) Darby also of Palm City, FL, six grandchildren, one great granddaughter, three sisters; Claudia, Carol and Kathy.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2008 and a Memorial Service beginning at 1:30 p.m. with US Navy Honors.
