Obituary of William Taylor
Mr. William "Bill" J. Taylor, 89, of Port St. Lucie died on August 31, 2011 at his home.
He was born on October 24, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY and resided in Port St. Lucie for 20 years coming from Bayville and Edison New Jersey.
He worked as a machinist for Okonite Cable Corp, a position from which he retired. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He served as a Merchant Marine transporting refugees during peacetime.
He was of the Roman Catholic faith and a parishioner St. Francis of Assisi in Metuchen, NJ. He was also a member of the local VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Noreen M. Taylor; his daughters, Kathie Schmidt of Palm City,FL, Patricia Draude and Noreen Bechtold both of Fords, New Jersey; his sons, William E. Taylor of Fairfax, Virginia, Edward Taylor of Highland Park, NJ and Brian Taylor of Texas; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Kathie, and his brother, Thomas Taylor.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, September 8th, 2011 at 6:00PM from the chapel of Forest Hills Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Palm City.
