William Joscelyn Vickers born on December 25th, 1923 graduated to Heaven on December 19th, 2020.  He was born to Margaret Gooden and Alfred Vickers in Jamaica, West Indies, the youngest of four brothers.  At the age of 8 he developed a cardiac condition and the prognosis was imminent death.  On the advice of the physician, his father had the coffin built, but a Lord had other plans and he lived a long, healthy life.  At his father's request, he was educated at home, then started elementary school at age 10.  He continued on to Ruseas High School where he was a member of the soccer, tennis and cricket teams.  After graduation, he started working as the family accountant for his family's estate.

He married Edwina, his wife of 67 years, on February 14, 1953 in Kingston, Jamaica. Together they raised their six children, 4 sons and 2 daughters, on their 13-acre farm.  In 1968, William and Edwina immigrated with their family to New York.  William worked in the X-ray department at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital for over twenty years. He and his wife ensured that all their children graduated from college.

In 1990, a few years after retiring, he and Edwina relocated to Port St. Lucie, Florida where he acquired the nick-name "Bill."  He volunteered at after school programs tutoring and helping children academically.  Bill became a member of Highpoint Church (Calvary Assembly) and served as an usher until the pain from arthritis halted his ambulation.  Bill was an assistant chaplain to the men in the maximum security prison at Indian Town correctional facility where he led many to know Jesus Christ.  In 2005 he received the "Chaplain of the Year" award for his services in the prison system.

William loved the Lord Jesus Christ and read the Bible to his family often.  He told his children many accounts of his dreams and visions including three encounters where Jesus came and spoke to him during times of pain and trials.These encounters, he stated, brought him much peace, comfort, and joy.

William thoroughly enjoyed reading and consumed hundreds of books throughout his lifetime.  Pop was also an avid gardener and was featured in the Port St. Lucie newspaper for his mangoes weighing in over 4 pounds each.  He was also a photographer, singer, played guitar in his younger years and acted in an Easter stage production in his 80's.  He was an ideal example of living a life drenched in truth from the Bible. One of his favorite Sunday evening past times was taking his family for a drive atop scenic hilltops, where he would read the Bible to them.

"Joss, Pop, Dada, Didda and Grand-dad" were the names that his family and adopted children, of whom there are many, lovingly called him.  He remained a humble, constant example of a knowledgeable, faithful friend of the Lord to all who knew him.  His favorite song was "Jesus Loves Me This I Know."  He strove to know the truth of God's word and would encourage others to read it often.

William is remembered and survived by his wife of 67 years, Edwina Jussette.Sons - David (Paulette), Affee (Kim), Paul (Emma), & Kenneth (Debbie), Daughters - Aslee (deceased) & Kerry.  Grandsons - Larry, Ripton, David (Erin), Jordan (Cherisse), Joel (Tricia), Paul, Israel, Aaron, and Nohah, Granddaughters; Danna, Sheree, Angel (Donnell), Talitha, (David), Shannon (RaQuan) and Leyanna, 21great-grandchilren, 5 great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended and "adopted" families.

During his last year of life he talked of being "tired," and, in his words, was "ready to meet the Lord."  He desired to leave and will be greatly missed!

The family request that in honor of William's life that all attendees of his services do not wear "black" or somber colors because this is a joyous occasion!!
