Zena B. Leighton, 93 of Sewall's Point passed away on November 28th, 2018 at her home following a long illness.

She was the daughter of the late Vida and Jack Yates who were both members of early Florida pioneer families. Zena is predeceased by her husband John" Jock" Leighton Sr., to whom she was married for fifty-five years.

As a lifelong Martin County resident, she enjoyed golfing and boating with her family. In 1971, Zena and "Jock" enjoyed traveling around the world and celebrating family reunions in England and Northern Scotland. She was a member of the Stuart Garden Club and the Rebecca Lodge.

Zena is survived by her son John "Johnny" S. Leighton Jr. of Palm City and her daughter, Janice"Jan" Leighton Bruner and son-in-law James" Jim" Bruner of Sewall's Point. Grandchildren include, Dana M. Leighton of Atlanta Ga.; John S. Leighton III and wife Laura of Stuart; Stephen G. Leighton of Palm City and Kirstin Leighton-Lucas and husband David of Washington D.C. Zena was blessed with four Great Grandsons; Tamerlane "Tam" Leighton-Lucas, Miles Leighton-Lucas, Julian Leighton-Lucas all of Washington D.C and Stephen "LJ" G. Leighton Jr. of Palm City.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. The Leighton family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the compassionate professionals of Treasure Coast Health / Martin County Hospice and the Visiting Nurses Association.
